Alerting: SMS alerting refers to the sending of SMS messages to recipients to quickly inform them of a critical situation, emergency or important event.
API: An API (Application Programming Interface) is a set of protocols, rules and definitions that enable different software applications to communicate and interact with each other. Application to Person (A2P): A2P refers to one-way communications between an application or automated system and an end user. This includes authentication messages, notifications, order confirmations, etc., sent by companies to users.
ARCEP: ARCEP is the French regulatory authority for electronic communications and postal services. It is responsible for the regulation and supervision of electronic communications, including mobile messaging services.
Two-factor authentication: This is a security mechanism that requires users to provide two forms of identification before accessing an account or application. In mobile messaging, this can include sending a verification code by SMS after entering a password to reinforce authentication security.
Bulk SMS : Bulk SMS are SMS messages sent en masse to a large number of recipients simultaneously. It’s an effective way of sending notifications, promotions, reminders or updates to a large audience quickly and cost-effectively. SMS campaign : An SMS campaign is a marketing or communication operation involving the targeted, coordinated sending of SMS messages to a specific group of recipients. Characters (number of) : In the context of mobile messaging, characters refer to the symbols, letters, numbers and spaces used to compose an SMS message. Most SMS messages are limited in number of characters (160 standard) for reasons of compatibility and cost.
CRM : CRM stands for customer relationship management. In mobile messaging, a CRM can refer to software or a platform that enables companies to manage interactions with their customers via SMS, e-mail, calls or other communication channels. CRMs can also integrate features to track customer interactions and data in order to provide personalized service and improve customer relations.
Delivery report (DLR): The Delivery Report is a notification generated by the mobile messaging network to indicate whether an SMS message has been successfully delivered to the final recipient. It enables the sender to check whether the message has been received by the recipient, or whether it has failed, which can be useful for tracking the status of sent messages.
Direct Carrier Billing (DCB): Direct Carrier Billing is a payment method that allows users to pay for digital goods and services directly via their cell phone bill. Instead of using a credit card or other traditional means of payment, the amount is added to the user’s monthly bill or deducted from their prepaid credit. This method is often used for purchases of mobile applications, digital content, games and more.
Fake DLR : Fake DLR is short for “Fake Delivery Report”. In the context of mobile messaging, this is a malicious practice where a fraudulent sender sends out false delivery notifications (DLRs) to fool the message recipient into believing that the message has been successfully delivered, when in fact it has not been delivered at all. This technique can be used in spam or phishing campaigns.

Dedicated short number : A dedicated short number is a short number assigned exclusively to a single company or organization. Virtual mobile number or long mobile number (VLN) : A virtual mobile number, also known as a long mobile number (VLN), is a cell phone number that is not linked to a physical SIM card. Opt-in : Opt-in refers to the prior consent given by a user to receive marketing messages or notifications from a company or application. When a user registers or explicitly agrees to receive communications, they are opt-in, which means they have authorized the company to send them messages.

Concatenated SMS : Concatenated SMS are SMS messages that exceed the standard 160-character limit. To send longer messages, concatenated SMS break the content into several parts (segments) and automatically assemble them on the recipient’s phone to display a single, continuous message.
Stop SMS : “Stop SMS” is a term used for the unsubscribe mechanism of mobile messaging services. When recipients no longer wish to receive messages, they can reply to the message with “STOP” or any other keyword indicated by the sender to unsubscribe from the mailing list.
Unicode : Unicode is a computer standard that assigns a unique numerical identifier (dot code) to every character, symbol and emoji in all the world’s languages and writing systems.
